The Old Boys’ Tributes to Mr. Peter Rogerson

To the strains of nostalgic music from the tattoo, around 200 Old Boys and Members of the Staff gathered at the North Wing approach to witness the unveiling of the bust of their illustrious late Principal, Peter Rogerson by the oldest of the Old Boys present, YS Digvijaysinhji of Wankaner, KS Anirudhsinhji of Jamnagar and KS Bhupendrasinhji of Palitana.

The Crested inscription on the pedestal reads as follows:

Sculpted by nationally honored Ahemdabad based Sculptor, Padma Shri Kantibhai R. Patel. The bust has been placed on a stone pedestal surrounded by a railing similar to that protecting Mr. Coryton Mayne’s statue. A few feet of gently curved wall behind the bust acts as a foil. The immediate and outer areas have been paved with polished and rough Kotah stone. Old Boy Architect, Ilyas Panwala designed the structure and executed it with meticulous care in record time; Miss Cooper liaised on our behalf.

KS Jayendrasinhji compeered the proceedings by inviting the OBA President, RK Sukhdevsinhji to address the gathering. After rich tributes were paid to the memory of the late Principal, known and beloved by most who had assembled, the OBA president announced the Dedication of the North Wing, calling it the ‘Peter Rogerson Wing’, amidst warm applause.

YS Digvijaysinhji of Wankaner was the next to address the gathering. Whilst endorsing all that had been said in tribute to the College’s highly distinguished Principal and reminiscing on the bond between the guru and his disciples he mentioned Peter Rogerson’s great love for music and the unique initiative he had taken in creating the searchlight tattoo, which had benefited generations of boy participants and bought the College fame far and wide.
